Silver surfer in Morocco
A local surfer shredding up Anchor Point in Morocco.
Because that is what surf trips are about, spending more time in a wetsuit than out.
Warming up our soggy wetsuits from the day before, as we finish our coffees in southwest France before some early morning fun with Hossegor’s renowned shorebreaks…
A lot of people forget that it’s rarely about just “the activity” that makes surfing sick. It’s all the sick shit that comes with it: the excitement, anticipation, fun, psych and amp that comes to us on the car ride to the beach. The friendships. The parking lots. The late nights, the early mornings, the long flights, the daydreams, the long drives on moments notice. All the ridiculous shit we do. That’s what appeals to us. The surfing act is done, and it is as fun as anything we can imagine, but it leads to so many other things and it’s that part that makes it so great. So unique. So different. We just can’t allow ourselves to degrade it to a lonely locker room over sand

The trail is the thing, not the end of the trail. Travel too fast, and you miss all you are traveling for
The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul.

Traveling in the company of those we love is home in motion.

As with any journey, who you travel with can be more important than the destination
The best thing about travelling in company is that you experience everything twice, once through your own eyes and ears and again through the others’.
Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white.
